Gala Dinner - Saturday, April 25th, 2009

The 4th Annual VIP Gala Dinner will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009.

The 1st Annual "Rev'ved Up 4 Kidz" VIP Gala Dinner was oversold with 170 guests. Icons from the automotive industry, prominent business owners, celebrity appearances as well as celebrity auction items, helped make the evening unforgettable. The Car Show showcased 150 autos which drew 3-5,000 people to Historic Downtown Torrance. The combined events raised in excess of $80,000 for the Center for Learning Unlimited (CLU). In response to requests to make "Rev'ved Up 4 Kidz" an annual affair, the Edelbrock Corporation pledged to continue these events to generate much needed funds for CLU.

CLU is a highly specialized non-public school that serves both the high functioning child diagnosed with complex educational and social challenges and their families. The innovative and unique systemic approach encompasses children identified with Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD & ADHD), as well as other learning disabilities.

Your contributions will make a qualitative difference for our children and their families. School districts are facing extraordinary challenges and may be greatly reducing their commitment to children with special needs.  You will help fill a void where schools districts cannot AND support the Center’s outreach mission to all of the South Bay.

Funding will support areas such as:

- Scholarship support for families who cannot otherwise access this expertise and are in need of the specialized services offered through the Center and

- Training medical and educational professionals in understanding educational and social needs of children with autism

- Continue the research and design of effective social and educational interventions for children identified as high functioning autistic

- Ongoing support for parent education through seminars and workshops, where parents have a safe and supportive environment to learn more about their child’s disability, and address issues commonly experienced by parents of autistic children.
